The legal basis for regulating the issues related to the ESS has become the adoption in 2024 of a number of regulatory legal acts in particular the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 8, 2024 No. 121-VII “On amendments to some legislative acts of the RK in the issues of heat power, electric power and regulative services” according to which the concept of energy storage systems was introduced into the Law of the RK “On support of the utilization of renewable energy sources” and the possibility of conducting the auction selling for the selection of projects for the construction of new facilities on the utilization of renewable energy sources equipped with ESS.
